Many thanks to the organisers and planners of Thursday’s run in Gloucester – John Miklausic – and Saturday’s final WNL race of the season – Ian Phillips – who as it turned out was watching over us from his hospital bed after a heart op! Both events a great success, enjoyed by all, and by good fortune both run in fine dry conditions, which is more than can be said for those prevailing on Saturday while the controls were being put out. We had rain, a snow blizzard, fog, and then a lovely clear evening for the race itself. Result are now published on the Results page. Somewhat surprisingly there were no comments in the golf clubhouse post WNL race on the lack of penalty point shown on the ‘instant’ results. This was not, as you all seemed to have assumed, due to these being necessarily calculated later, but was in fact to there being no time limit set in the system for the 1 hour course, an attribute of the system that has caught me out in the past! Fortunately it seems not to have adversely affected the overall WNL results for the season.

Many thanks to Flynns on the Hill for looking after us so well, and of course the Cleeve Hill Trust for permission to run there. It’s a pity that some their public seemingly feel we shouldn’t, as a control was stolen, the second time that has happed on that part of the hill in the last month or so, and was not found on a morning sweep of the area

Thanks also to Greg Best, Ginny Hudson, and Steve Williams, for collecting the controls this morning and delivering them to Pwll Ddu to be set up for Sheepscombe next weekend.

Finally, I have a pair of ladies Karrimor walking boots, size 6, left outside the door of the Golf Club last night. Email me at Equipment ‘@’ ngoc.org.uk to arrange to get them back if they are yours.
