It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol Stewart, NGOC club member from time immemorial, an almost permanent fixture at Registration until very recently, massive contributor to the club, and lovely person. She went into hospital for a hip operation in May, went home after a longish spell whilst home support was organised for her, but then suffered a relapse, returned to hospital and died on or about the 24th May. She was one of, if not the, longest serving member of the club, and will be greatly missed.
It is particularly sad to report that Carol was a very private person, and as far as we know she had no living relatives; we have been unable to discover anything about funeral or other arrangements.
The Committee and one or two others have been discussing how we should commemorate Carol, and we will publish our plans in due course. In the meantime, if you have any anecdotes or stories about Carol, memories of shared times, or simple impressions, or indeed any information on contacts for Carol outside her orienteering, Cheltenham Bach Choir and Scottish Dancing interests, perhaps you could send them to Duncan Liddle.
