Key Information
- Check travel details before leaving home; remember that there is a 6 Nations rugby match at Cardiff, which will mean significantly increased traffic during parts of the day;
- The road from Bridgend to Merthyr Mawr is very narrow in places, and will be busy throughout the day;
- Allow plenty of time to get to Assembly from the parking field, and collect a hired dibber if relevant to you. It is about a 900m walk, along a road shared with traffic;
- Registration, dibber issue, start and finish are all within sight of each other next to the Candleston car park;
- There will be a clothing dump at Assembly, and you can secure valuables with registration if you wish;
- The forecast is currently looking fairly benign, but could change. We will post further information here if there is a risk that cagoules are required to be worn on the day;
- Start times are 10:00-11:15 for the open event and 11:50-14:30 for BUCS. Turn up and queue for open runners, call up at -4 minutes for BUCS. BUCS Runners, DO NOT BE LATE;
- Open courses close at 12:45, and BUCS courses close at 16:00; you must report to Download, regardless of whether you have finished your course or not, by 15 minutes after these times or face disqualification; likewise if you retire you must report to download to inform us that you have done so;
- Full leg and torso cover is mandatory; there is a risk of tick bites and consequent low but possible risk of lyme disease; check yourselves after your run.
- If completely lost, in the dunes below the high ground towards the North of the map, head North East until you meet a stream or the waterworks, then upstream/North to the car park. If you are on the high ground at the top of the map, head South East until you meet a stream and then follow it downstream;
- The area is shared with the public; be courteous towards them;
- The dunes beyond the immediate Assembly areas and taped spectator zone are part of the competition area and out of bounds to competitors before and after your run.
