We’ve included a link to a feedback form on the results page, so please use this to let us have your reflections, feedback or suggestions on the event, good or bad.
Thanks to Vanessa and Seth for organising – Vanessa writes:
Thank you all for coming to run at Danby Lodge. This was a new area for us to plan, having run there only a couple of times before.
The central location of the lodge and the forestry work/awful bracken in various parts made planning challenging especially for the Yellow, Orange and Short Green courses. We originally thought of starting in the flatter western area but the bracken was too high so only the longer courses visited it in the end, and the north east boulder slope is actually quite interesting with a lot of useful control sites (albeit much more hilly). As said in the event details the area varies from ‘beautiful running’ to ‘trampling over huge brashings’ to ‘head high bracken’ and so the going was varied. A couple of runners commented that they ran a lot further than they anticipated but I can see how this might happen given the fact that often the path option would have been far easier. One or two commented that it was physical. Yes, I know, and it was a relief that we had a dry week beforehand or some of the steeper slopes would have been really slippery.
It was great to see so many younger competitors on the Yellow and Orange, and we hope you spotted the historical control site. We thought it was interesting and deserved to be used.
It would be really useful if more people uploaded their runs on Routegadget, it is a very useful analysis tool for planners as well as competitors. We like to see where runners went.
A reminder to check for ticks, especially if you were tangled in bracken at any point.
Finally our best wishes to the runner who injured herself, hoping for a speedy recovery.
See you in another forest!
Lost property: One insulated silver “Nespresso” coffee mug with a black lid, left at the assembly tent.
