Parkend Walk is a mixed deciduous and coniferous forest. Generally very runnable with some patches of brambles / bracken. There are some rock features from old mining activities and areas of pits/depressions. There are several mountain bikers tracks which are shown as meandering indistinct paths on the map.
1:10,000, printed on waterproof paper, with control descriptions on the map and available loose at registration. Based on the 2004 survey, with many updates as required for each event since.
The usual courses will be available:
- Yellow: 2.2km 80m climb 8 controls
- Orange 3.0km 100m climb 9 controls
- Green 3.6km 110m climb 10 controls
- Blue 5.7km 160m climb 13 controls
Start is adjacent to Assembly, Finish is around 700m from Assembly.
A string course is available.

Registration and starts: 11:30 – 13:30
Courses close: 15:00
Entry: £5 Seniors (£6 for non-BOF members), £2 Juniors. SI Hire: £1 seniors, free for Juniors, £35 charge if you lose one.
Mountain bikers use the area with many downhill tracks. They can approach at speed with little warning – Please be aware of riders and keep off their tracks as they approach.
The Green and Blue courses visit some steep slopes in the forested areas and these can be loose and slippery, particularly after rain.
