Preliminary results for the first R2T2 event are now published on the Results page. We had over 70 runners and riders, a fantastic turnout for the first event in this new format, and feedback was overwhelmingly positive. A lot of work went into planning and running the event, for which we need to thank, in particular, Gill Stott for planning and managing the bike course, Paul and Joc Dodd and Andy Creber from Rogue Runs for marketing, the website, and logistics on the day, Gary Wakerley for helping with parking and the starts, Sion James from Black Mountains Guiding for overseeing the biking side, and Richard Cronin for checking the course and ensuring it was 100% safe for the navigational novices. Syd Wheeler from Chepstow Harriers kept the runners on the straight and narrow at the first key decision point on the outbound running route, as well as steering them towards the Finish at the end of their race. A truly collective effort.
We have 2 more events scheduled this year, and will take stock after those before deciding on next year’s programme. On this showing, though, it looks as if we have a viable new string to our bow.
A report, and photos, will appear I hope in due course.
