Final results for Saturday’s event at Cranham & Witcombe are now published on the Results page. We apologise for the problems some runners encountered at control 187 due to there being an unmapped path near the control. We have reviewed…

Results from last night’s Barnwood MapRun are now published on the Results page. Due to a typo when publishing the event results appeared as for a Scatter, rather than Score, course. This has been corrected, and the event re-published and correctly specified as a Score event! So if you ran last night, the results on your phone will reflect your scatter result, and you need to check here to see how you actually did in Score terms. Note that this involved exporting all GPX tracks, recreating the event, and then recreating your results from the GPX track. So check that this has worked correctly!

Standings will appear later today.

To avoid this simple error in future, we will from the next MapRun – Stonehouse – specify a minimum App version level for each event, and that will be MapRun v7. So if you are still running MapRun6 on your phone, you will need to download and install MapRun – also known as MapRun v7.

Results for Saturday’s event at Sheepscombe are now published on the Results page.

Many thanks to James and Pat for planning and setting up the event, on what is always a very steep but beautiful area of the escarpment. Thanks also to the National Trust Ebworth centre for allowing us to park, and for the excellent toilet facilities! Also to everyone who helped, but perhaps particularly to the control collectors who will have doubled their climb….

Further to our earlier note, it seems that the road from Birdlip South towards Stroud(and the Ebworth centre) – the B4070 – is currently closed at Birdlip. The closure is due to be lifted tomorrow afternoon – Friday – but it’s worth checking before travelling on Saturday if you aim to approach the Ebworth Centre from the North on the B4070. Satnavs may know, or you can check on the Gloss CC Highways status page at:

https://one.network/?options=organisationID=1048&region=gloucestershire&dateRange=twoweeks

If the road remains closed, please do not approach through Cranham village; there are several alternatives which avoid this steep and narrow road.

See you all Saturday.

Entries for Saturday’s League 3 race at Sheepscombe close tonight, so if you haven’t entered yet, hurry on over to Faban4 and sign up.

There are no closures planned for the major A417 upgrade works around what was once the Air Balloon roundabout, but you might want to check on the state of play there before travelling – visit https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-roads/south-west/a417-missing-link/ for the latest news.

Be aware, though, that there has been ongoing work in Birdlip village where the road towards Sheepscombe turns out of the village. This work may be complete by now, but recently there have been traffic lights there which were not working too well when I went through for a site meeting with planner James Askew, and for a tag checking visit!

Many thanks to the organisers and planners of Thursday’s run in Gloucester – John Miklausic – and Saturday’s final WNL race of the season – Ian Phillips – who as it turned out was watching over us from his hospital bed after a heart op! Both events a great success, enjoyed by all, and by good fortune both run in fine dry conditions, which is more than can be said for those prevailing on Saturday while the controls were being put out. We had rain, a snow blizzard, fog, and then a lovely clear evening for the race itself. Result are now

Please note that the start time for the WNL race on Cleeve Hill on Saturday 2 March has been moved back by 30 minutes, to 18:30. This is to ensure reasonable darkness for a race in what is very largely an open area with excellent visibility. Food will therefore also be served 30 minutes later, at 20:15.
